Diana Fryer Weidman

Mrs. Diana Fryer Weidman, 76, of Blytheville, passed from this life Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Great River Medical Center.

Diana was born in Jonesboro, and retired from civil service at Eaker Air Force Base. She was one of the last employed during the base closing and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blytheville, where she was a former member of the choir, a volunteer "office angel," communion steward, and membership secretary. After retirement Diana worked part time for Cobb Funeral Home for more than 15 years, where she served faithfully in various capacities. Her pleasant demeanor and smile were uplifting for those attending visitations and funeral services.

Diana graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1955 and Arkansas State University in 1959. She was a life member and past president of the Blytheville Junior Auxiliary and a former member of ESA Sorority. She volunteered with the Mississippi County Library, Reach to Recovery and Meals on Wheels.

Diana was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Kathrine "Kate" Langley Fryer.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Charlie Weidman, of the home;

A daughter Stefanie Barnes, and husband, Michael, of St. Louis;

A granddaughter, Abigayle Pesek, and husband, Joshua, of Imperial, Mo.;

Her aunt, Ruby Langley, and her cousin, James Langley, both of Houston, Texas;

Her beloved cats, Pib and Rosie; and

Many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Blytheville with Dr. Robin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home.
