Sylvester Hodges, 64, of Blytheville, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

He was born in Crawford, Miss., the son of Jimmy Hodges and Marie Evans Hodges.

He enlisted in the United States Army. After leaving the Army, he lived in several states. He moved back to the Osceola area from Kankakee, Ill., in 1994. He was employed in several of the Osceola industries and last worked as a line dispatcher for American Greetings. He moved to Blytheville several years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Doris Joshaway Hodges of the home;

One daughter, Mrs. Nova Goosby of Little Rock;

Four sons, Chester Baldon of Tampa, Fla., Bobby Joshaway of Indianapolis, Ind., Tarius Joshaway of Blytheville and Marco (and Joy) Williams of Champaign, Ill.;

One sister, Mrs. Hilda (and Alvin) Williams of Fort Wayne, Ind.;

Two brothers, Ernest (and Peggy) Robinson of Utica, NY and Charlie Hodges of August, Ga.;

Thirteen grandchildren;

Eight great-grandchildren; and

Other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at noon Monday at Great Holy Temple Church on East McHaney Drive in Blytheville with Elder Henry Brown officiating. Arrangements are by McDonald-Horne Funeral Home of Blytheville.
