Guelda Lee Deason

Mrs. Guelda Lee Deason, 80, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. She was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Manila, to the late William M. and Clara G. Harrelson-Simpson.

Mrs. Deason was a seamstress most of her life and was a faithful member of the Blackwater Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading and spending time at the Manila senior center visiting with friends and playing cards.

Mrs. Deason was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her loving husband, Bennie H. Deason, in 1996; a daughter, Janice Lee Riggs; a grandson, Dustin Riggs; two sisters, Lottie Reed and Evelyn Lipton; and a brother, John Simpson.

Survivors include her son, David Deason and wife, Jeannie of Alabaster, Ala;

A daughter, Rhonda Deason of Houston, Texas;

Her sister, Nella Lee of Blytheville;

Her brothers, J.B. Simpson and wife, Anna Belle, and Morris Simpson Jr., both of Manila; and

Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today in the Chapel of Howards Funeral Home in Manila with interment following in Manila Cemetery. The Rev. William Piercy officiated. Visitation was held at Howard's Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
