Clyde Edward Petty

Clyde Edward Petty, 64, of Lakeland, Fla., former longtime Manila area resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, at the South Florida Baptist Hospital in Plant City, Fla. Born in Manila, he was the son of the late Ernest and Marie Finley Petty and had attended Manila High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was later employed as a maintenance technician at the former Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville. He had been a Florida resident for the past 16 years and had worked as a self employed carpenter.

He is survived by one son, Eric Petty of Manila; two daughters, Angela Perkins of Manila and Trenia Ishie of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Shirley Williamson of Plant City, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial followed in Manila Cemetery.

The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
