Estell Hammons, 77, of Watervliet, Mich., passed away from this earth Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Mich.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Watervliet, where visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

Estell was born June 11, 1936, in Leachville, Ark., to author and Disie (Wilkey) Baxley. She loved canning, quilting, word search puzzles, "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy." Most of all she loved her family and would do anything for them.

Survivors include three children: Winona (J.D.) Corp of San Angelo, Texas; Dianna (Tony -- her "number 2" son) Morlock of Coloma, Mich.; and Norm (Sherry) Hammons Jr. of Watervliet, Mich.; a sister, Nadine Hiser of Leachville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bud Baxley; and sisters, Elizabeth Broughton and Stella Austin. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Norman, who passed away only four months ago. She died of a broken heart. As hard as it is to say good-bye, they are together again, the way it as meant to be.
