President not going to give in to Republicans

Thursday, October 17, 2013

To the editor:

I have been watching the government shutdown now for 13 days. The reason for the shutdown, the president would not give in to the Republican Congress's demand, defund Obamacare.

I wrote in the Courier News about a year ago that the Republicans would never repeal Obamacare. Well, they tried over 40 times to repeal it. They even appealed to the Supreme Court, with no success. They did not give up there, so they tried to defund Obamacare, with no success. I also wrote that if the Republican Party did not rid themselves from the Tea Party, their party would be destroyed. Well, we see just that, and it is their own fault.

In my opinion, the reason they tried to defund Obamacare, by shutting down the government, they thought President Obama was gullible, that he cared for the people, therefore the president would give in to their demands. This is foolish. These Republicans are led by the Tea Party, and they are setting a bad example for Congress. The Republicans willing to shut down the government and put millions of people out of work, just because they can't have their way with the president.

My son and I were speaking on this same subject, and he said to me, that the president would give in to the Republicans, because he caved in before. "Daddy, I believe the president is a little weak." I said, "No son, the president is no way weak. He is trying to do what is good for this country, and he will never cave in."

The president is much stronger than any Republican in Congress. The Republican Congress reminds me of the Towers of Babel. At one time, the Republicans spoke with one language, repeal, defund Obamacare. We see the Republican language are confounded, and scattered. The Republican Party voted to cut $40 billion from the food stamps program. I want you to know that the food stamp program is a broad program. God will never let the Republican Congress deny the needy. Helping the needy is Biblical foundation.

The president has been elected twice, and it was not by chance or accident, it was by the will of God. Well, how do I know this? I've seen the providence in the 2008 and the 2012 elections.
