Mr. Sherman James Johnson, 59, of Memphis, formerly of Blytheville, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Metro Community Care Home in Memphis. Born Feb. 12, 1954, in Blytheville, he was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Southside Church of Christ in Blytheville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Smith and June Marie Jackson Johnson; his wife, Brenda Johnson; a daughter, Pamala Johnson; and a brother Ellis Johnson.

Mr. Johnson leaves one niece, Lacreatea Johnson of Blytheville;

Two grandnieces, Zariah Trawick and Brittney Mays of Jonesboro;

Two nephews, Cedric Johnson of Jonesboro and Darrell Brown of Blytheville;

Two grandnephews, Cedric Johnson of Blytheville and Kiande Diamon of Jonesboro;

Fourteen aunts, Bobbie Minor of Hazlehurst, Virgie McKenzie and Bessie Johnson of New Orleans, Ruth Williams, Bessie Mae Young, Margie Bryant, and Mary Jackson of Elkhart, Ind., Rebecca Bowens, Jessie Lee Jackson and Savannah Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Hattie Cooper of Steele, Mo., Corine Jackson of Blytheville, Margaret Smith of Jackson, and Florence Jackson of Benton Harbor, Mich.;

One brother, James (and Dorothy) Johnson of Blytheville;

Twelve uncles, Convers Jackson of Benton Harbor, Mich., Jessie Jackson, Johnnie Jackson, and Sammy Jackson of Elkhart, Ind., Clyde Jackson of Blytheville, Samuel Williams of Cleveland, Ohio, Earl Smith and Joseph Smith of Crystal Springs, Roy Smith of Little Rock, Eddie Smith Jr. of Detroit, Mich., and Mozell Smith and Troy Smith of Jackson.

The family will receive visitors from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Blytheville. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Art Smith, will begin following the visitation, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
