Jerry Wayne Shasteen

Mr. Jerry Wayne Shasteen, 71, of Caraway passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at St. Bernards Medical Center. Mr. Shasteen was born April 7, 1942, in to the late Ben and Lula Shasteen. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Caraway and self-employed in lawn care service. Jerry loved his family and loved spending time with his great-granddaughter, Kalli.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda (Waters) Shasteen of the home; one son, Mark Shasteen and wife Wanda of Caraway; one brother: Doyle Shasteen of Nettleton; three sisters, Bobbie Smart of Benton Harbor, Mich., Claudine Coggins of Agnos and Brenda (Norman) Wheeler of Monette; two grandchildren, Heather Blocker and husband Dewayne of Leachville and Whitney Vasser and husband Kyle of Paragould; two great-granddaughters, Kallie Shasteen and Allie Blocker; one great-grandson, Bradyn Blocker; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tammy Shasteen; two brothers, Sherman and Larry Shasteen; three sisters:,Juanita Rutledge, Louise Stallings and Beatrice Shasteen; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at New Hope Baptist Church, Caraway, with Bro. Heath Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Caraway Cemetery under the direction of Faith Funeral Service of Manila.

The family will receive visitors from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Roger Williams, Johnny Berry, Fred Couch, Leo Stallings, Gary Davis and Larry Davis.

Honorary pallbearers were the Pendergrass family, New Hope Baptist Church and the men from Kwick Shop and Feed Lot.
