Nettie Iva Lee Wilbanks Haley

Nettie Iva Lee Wilbanks Haley, 73 of Manila, formerly of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, May 10, 2013, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Born in Chalybeate, Miss., to William Lee and Iva C. Campbell Wilbanks, she

was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. Homemaker was a fitting description of Nettie and her life. Her family was her life and no sacrifice was

too great nor a job too large for her.

She retired from Glen Cook Farms where she could do most all that was needed. She chopped and picked cotton, drove farm grain trucks and operated a press at the cotton gin. Then at home she would prepare the meals for the family by cooking a skillet of fried potatoes, gravy, and cornbread or biscuits. Her red eye gravy and biscuits were a favorite of all the family. But it was during the "hard times" that families experience from time to time when the homemaker was present. No matter the circumstances she made sure the family received every ounce of love she could share. This love for family and her faith in God brought the family thru the hard times and also helped her rejoice during the good times. Nettie will be remembered by family and friends as one of the most devoted individual they would ever meet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Mitchell Haley;

and daughter-in-law.

Nettie is survived by her daughter, "Kandi" Gernhart and husband, David, of Blytheville;

Sons Joe Haley and wife, Tammy, of the Half Moon Community, and Glen Allen Haley of Blytheville;

Her brothers, Nathan Wilbanks and wife, Nettie, and Tommy Wilbanks and wife, Ella Fay, both of Etowah; and

Twelve grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.cobbfuneralhome.com
