Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Mrs. Bertha Mae Griffith Stuart, 90, of Blytheville, passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville. Born to Urban Samuel and Allie B. Robertson Griffith in Monette, she was a retired beautician and a member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church.

Bertha was active in helping coordinate the activities at the Clean Fun Club and was also a Justice of the Peace. During her 20 years of service as a Justice she performed many marriages and always felt it special that she was able to help couples start off their marriages.

Once Bertha got past the age of 50 she decided she wanted to start hunting and fishing. Until she was not able to go, she looked forward to her outdoor adventures with great enthusiasm.

A special part of her life was family and church and it wasn't unusual for her to attend different churches in the same day so that she could listen to the Gospel being preached. Having family around were special moments for her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Everett Stuart; a daughter, Donna Kay Stuart Lininger; two brothers, Orbie Robertson and Sammy Griffith; and three sisters, Evelyn Fleeman, Clora Inez Griffith and Jewell Griffith.

Bertha is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Stuart Stallings;

Four grandchildren, Lisa Hickerson and her husband, Stephen, Brooks Stallings and his wife Lindsey, all of Blytheville, and Steven Lininger and Jeffrey Lininger, both of St. Louis;

Four great-grandchildren, Kinsey Hickerson, Riley Hickerson, Kiefer Stallings and Teagan Stallings; and

A son-in-law, Rich Lininger.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Manila Cemetery with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be expressed to the family on the Cobb Funeral Home website at www.cobbfuneralhome.com
