Mrs. Eleanora Pew, 71, of Hot Springs, formerly of Blytheville, departed this life Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Heritage of Hot Springs Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Blytheville to Paul Hemphill and Virginia Pinkerton Hemphill Oct. 9, 1941. She was a homemaker and was married to John Floyd Pew for more than 34 years until his death in 1998.

Mrs. Pew attended Gosnell Baptist Church before she moved to Hot Springs over 20 years ago where she attended Piney Baptist Church.

She was an animal lover, and would often take in strays. Dogs and cats were her favorites and she had a dog named Teddy that was extra special to her.

Eleanora loved to eat, but she didn't enjoy cooking. She was a fan of junk foods, especially from Sonic. She also had to have her coffee.

Other hobbies included working in the yard, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and knitting blankets. Family members have several blankets that she knitted for them.

Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by, one son: John Jeffrey Pew of Blytheville;

One brother, Jimmy (and Carolyn) Hemphill of Colorado;

Three sisters, Phyllis Dexter of Hot Springs, Connie (and Jim) King of Blytheville and Carrie (and Mike) Carney of Blytheville;

Two grandsons, Jeff and John Pew;

A daughter, Cammie Garcia; and

Five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Monday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2012, at Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville, with Dr. Tommy J. Carney officiating. Condolences may be offered at www.carneyfuneralhome.com
