Mrs. Cynthia (C.J.) McGee, 44, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was the daughter of Cynthia Lee Franks and the late Sydney Raye Wood. Before her health deteriorated, she was a dispatcher for the Blytheville Police Department. She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.

Cynthia had great love for her family. She thoroughly enjoyed going to football games and watching her nephews play ball, and her daughter march in the band color guard. She went to every game she could. She loved being outside -- the fresh air, the birds in the birdbath that she filled every day, the flowers -- especially carnations and daisies -- were a joy to her.

She was an avid member of the ASPCA. She loved all animals, but her cat, 15-year-old Tiger, was extra special to her. She called him her "baby."

Cynthia was a "people person." She was very kind-hearted and took many people into her home who were in need of help. She saw the good in everybody, even when her family sometimes thought she was too accepting of others. She was an organ donor and at least three people (including a 6-year-old girl) have been given a new lease on life because of her gift of life.

The past few years, she had not been able to get out and do much, so when she could, she loved to eat at the Steele Café. She also enjoyed buying her own groceries when she was able.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Sydney Wood; her step-father, Leo Lamb; and a step-brother, Shannon Franks.

She is survived by her mother, Cynthia Lee Franks;

Her husband, Joe Fox of Caruthersville;

A son, Aaron Wood of Jonesboro;

A daughter, Laney Wood of Blytheville;

A brother, Chuck Davis of Illinois;

Three sisters, Debra Brooks of Jonesboro, Tonya Andrews of Jacksonville, Fla., and Vickie (and Clint) Stringer of Gosnell;

Three nephews and a niece who were very close to her, Adrin, Justice, Mathew, and Sierra Stringer, all of Gosnell;

Two special aunts and a special uncle:, Becky (and Jimmy) Franks of Blytheville, and Laura Andrews of Biloxi, Miss., and Terrill (and Shirley) Lamb of Biloxi; and

Many more family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Carney Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held in Biloxi at a later date. Carney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.carneyfuneralhome.com
