Blytheville proves it's still home

To the editor:

Many people speak to the decline of the Arkansas Delta, while others encourage mass exodus from these areas. There are those to say that "there is nothing here," or it is "boring."

This past weekend of Oct. 12-13, 2012, was a testimony that while some things have left Blytheville and some things have actually changed, there is still a lot of good in the community -- namely, the people.

The Blytheville High School Class of 2002 celebrated its 10-year reunion during this time, and alumni came from miles around to a place called HOME. There was so much love shown, gracious smiles were given, and friendships were rekindled during this time.

We realized that many of the lessons learned in Blytheville, whether from our parents, teachers, clergy or other entities, have made us the successful doctors, accountants, teachers, nurses, policemen, engineers, etc. that we are today!

So thank you, Blytheville, once again for opening up your arms and showing us the affection that can only come from a place called home.
