Carolyn Sue VanRavenswaay, 70, of Newport, the widow of the Rev. Henry VanRavenswaay, passed from this life Friday Sept. 21, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Tupelo, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Gentry and Evelyn David Due and attended Augusta High School. Being a pastor's wife, she had lived in several towns in northeast Arkansas but always considered Newport home. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Newport. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Haley.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Leslie VanRavenswaay of Jackson, Tenn.,

Her daughter and son-in-law, Penne and Dr. Tony Cherry of Hayti, Mo.;

Three brothers, Lonnie Due, Bob Due, and Kenny Due, all of Newport; and

Five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with the Rev. Chris Foster and Dr. Tony Cherry officiating. Committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Tupelo, Ark. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Manila.
