Fairy tales can come true; will it happen to you?

To the editor:

17th century nursery rhyme: "Simple Simon met a pieman, Going to the fair; Says Simple Simon to the pieman, Let me taste your wear. Says the pieman to Simple Simon, Show me first your penny; Says Simple Simon to the pieman, Indeed I have not any."

The modern twist is, Simple Simon (Obama) turned out to be a real con-man and succeeded in not only getting a taste, but the whole pie for nothing. The pieman (people) were taken by a charismatic amateur with no proven leadership abilities, business experience, no military record, no financial or job experience, but he is a great con-man with lots of charisma. Sounds a lot like Jim Jones, but that's about Kool-Aid, not pie.

Our pie (jobs and wealth) are being squandered before our eyes, and when the pie is gone, just like Greece's, what will we do? Greece has destroyed their pie and now wants the rest of the world to help keep up the standard of living they voted for themselves. Not that they worked for or earned the pie. Does this sound familiar? In the 50s, over 80 percent of the men of working age in the U.S. had a job; now only 60 percent have a job. What happened to our pie the last 50 years?

We are at the point if Simple Simon took all the monies of all the millionaires and left them with nothing, we still can't pay the debt he has ran up each year. Simple Simon is taking your pie, your kids' pie and grandkids' pie. Now Simple Simon hasn't done all this alone, he has a gang of career politicians, bureaucrats and progressives all trying to take others pie and hinder us from making more.

All Washington politicians have run up the debt, moving the problem into the future. Bush in eight years ran up a $4.9 trillion debt. In 3.5 years, Obama has ran up a $5.1 trillion debt -- at the present rate he will run it up to $10.02 trillion in eight years. That's 96 percent higher than when Obama took office, from $10.6 trillion to $20.8 trillion. We will then be in the same boat as Greece, flat broke! Remember, Russia was never defeated; she went bankrupt and broke up. Russia's government owned and controlled all the pie; they had no millionaires or pieman to blame.

The pieman creates jobs and wealth; government can only take someone else's pie. It's supposed to provide the things spelled out in our Constitution. Not give it to itself, buy votes, waste and squander it. Greece has progressed its way to destroying their pie and any way to make more. It's not too late for us if we don't drink the Kool-Aid or surrender our pie. Do you have more pie than you did four years ago? Keep your eye on the pie not the smoke-and-mirror issues. Other issues are important but not critical to our country's survival.
