Local Scouts help out Food Pantry

Thursday, April 26, 2012

To the editor:

On Saturday, April 14, 2012, Boy Scout Troop 104's job was to help fill the Blytheville/Gosnell Food Pantry via the "Scouting-for-Food" program. Two assistant Scoutmasters, Craig Fosburg and Tom Holmes, and six Scouts collected a massive amount of food and donated money for the pantry at Hays grocery store.

Clay Caldwell, Justin McDonald, Jamie Winfrey, Ethan Post and Joseph and Christopher Storf were the scouts involved.

Craig and I delivered the food and money to the pantry at about 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning. We filled many boxes and set them on pallets to be weighed and placed on the shelves. We were thanked most graciously. It felt good.

We are driven to repeat this effort at least once a year and possibly several times.

Thanks, Scouts.
