Mrs. Martha Ann Barnes Bryan, 88, of Jonesboro, passed from this life Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born in the Clear Lake Community to William S. and Ollie Robinson Barnes, she was a member of Armorel Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Martha loved to cook -- especially baking -- and was known for her chocolate chip cake. She collected cookbooks and loved trying new recipes. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude S. Bryan; a brother, Walter Barnes; and three sisters, Mary Paul Long, Ruth Ray and Dean Blair.

Martha leaves her daughter, Sharon Ann Taylor and husband, John M., of Jonesboro;

Two grandchildren, John Bryan Taylor and Laura Taylor Blalock of Jonesboro; and

Two great-grandchildren, Hayden Cooper and Ava Cain, of Jonesboro.

She had a special fondness for her numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
