Mr. Joel Wayne Hamlin, 82, of Henry, Tenn., died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Paris (Tenn.) Healthcare Center. He was born Nov. 5, 1929, in Henry, Tenn. Hamlin's parents, the late Henry Porter Hamlin and Lorene Groom Hamlin, and is step-mother, Lynora Allen Hamlin, preceded him in death; as did two sisters, Addie Margaret Hamlin and Dorthy Mae Hamlin; one brother-Rufus Weldon in infancy; and two half-brothers, J.H. and Larry Joe Hamlin.

Hamlin retired as a civilian employed aircraft mechanic with the U.S. Air Force at installations in Memphis, Tenn., Mobile, Ala., and Blytheville after 34 years. After retirement he was a farmer in the Henry (Tenn.) Community.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and maintained memberships in VFW Post 4939, American Legion Post 37 and Caledonia Masonic Lodge, all in McKenzie, Tenn.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth Brooks Hamlin. They were married Aug. 22, 1953.

He also leaves one son, Patrick Hamlin and wife, Toni, Kingston Springs, Tenn.;

Three daughters, Pamela Lorene Smith, of Paris, Tenn., Paula Jo Payne and husband, Mark, of Blytheville, and Priscilla Brooke Bullard of Fairview, Tenn.;

One half-brother, Henry Porter Hamlin Jr. of Guerneville, Calif.;

Two half-sisters, Lynda Winburn and Barbara Wallace, both of Henry, Tenn.;

Nine grandchildren, Autumn Sleder and husband, Adam, of Traverse City, Mich., Paul Smith of Tiptonville, Tenn., Sossity Smith of Blytheville, Bradley and Ryan Bullard, both of Blytheville, Londyn Payne of Blytheville, Dallas and Dalton Hamlin, both of Kingston Springs, and Erin McDaniel and husband, David, of Kansas City, Mo.; and

Five great-grandchildren, Cameron Grant and Noah Sleder, both of Traverse City, and Jadyn, Destiny and Bradyn Smith-Batchelor, all of Blytheville.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Paris, Tenn., with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery near Henry, Tenn. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and other family members. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday and after noon Sunday, March 4.
