Letter to the Editor

NAACP members need to stop bickering

Friday, February 17, 2012

EDITOR'S NOTE: The following letter is in response to a Feb. 8 article headlined, "NAACP officers: Meeting wasn't legal."

To the editor:

Here we go again. Why is it that everything that goes wrong in Blytheville is Carol White's fault? Is it her fault that we, the citizens, are being asked to pay back money that we had no part in spending?

Mr. Hollis talks a good game but he does nothing. He's all mouth and the only reason he is still attending the NAACP meetings is to report back to the people in power. Yes, that's his job. He is not a man of action, only confusion.

Come on, people, get your acts together. As long as we have people like Mr. Hollis whispering his thoughts and ideas in Tracy Marshall's ear, there will always be confusion. Tracy Marshall is a sedentary president and is being coerced by Mr. Hollis. I don't have to attend every meeting to figure that out. I am for making progress, and Dianna Walker and Carol White are doing just that.

Members of the NAACP need to stop bickering and come together to help make some much-needed changes here in Blytheville. Mr. Hollis stated he's ready to cut his losses and move on, so be it. If you're not helping to make things better here, you are a part of the problem.

And for the record, I am opposed to the tax increase and will vote against it.
