Charles "Buddy" Armstrong

Mr. Charles "Buddy" Armstrong, 91, of Dell, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Shonyo to Charles Francis and Carrie May Johnson Armstrong, he was a lifelong area resident and a longtime retired farmer of the Dell area. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps in the 8th Air Force. Mr. Armstrong was an active member of the Dell United Methodist Church, Dell Kiwanis Club, American Legion, Manila Country Club, and 351st Bomb Group Association. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel and fish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Brownlee Armstrong; his step-father, E.W. "Pop" Noland; and three sisters, Charline Pannullo, Betty Tidwell and Marguerite Kerner.

Survivors include his children, Charles F. Armstrong and his wife, Sandra, of Dell, Linda Armstrong Smith of Jonesboro, Diane Armstrong Jackson and her husband, Mike, of Dell;

His sister, Helen Miller of Blytheville; AND

Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marilyn Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Dell United Methodist Church or the Blytheville Humane Society.
