Jane Medlin Lane

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Born in Blytheville to Henry Clay and Virgie Moody Medlin, she graduated from Blytheville High School with the class of 1942 and married Alvin Lane Jr. in June of that year. Alvin preceded her in death, after 69 years together.

Jane worked for Glen Horner for many years, collecting levy taxes and had a two-state produce and candy route. She also helped out at Medlin-Lane Electric as bookkeeper and with winding motors on occasion, but she was mostly a stay-at-home mother, to be there for her children when needed.

She was active in PTA, band parents, room mother, chaperoned many school trips and was always there whenever and wherever needed. When Alvin's Aunt Skeet and her parents were in bad health, Jane cooked for them and she and Alvin would take meals to them every day. She cooked meals for about 20 years for others.

Jane learned to knit when her son, Buddy, joined the service. She knitted afghans, sweaters, dresses, foot warmers and dishrags. She also enjoyed needlepoint and plastic canvas crafts.

She had been in bad health due to a blood disorder and arthritis since the early 80s and Alvin was always there to take care of her. They enjoyed traveling until her health prevented them from going but they did enjoy their daily car rides until his health prevented that. Now Jane and Alvin are strolling over heaven, hand in hand. Happy Valentine's Day, Mother and Daddy.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Adieul Medlin.

She is survived by her children, Alvin C. (Buddy) Lane III and his wife, Pam, and Jane Lane King McGruder;

Her grandchildren, Jerry King of Dallas, Scott Lane of Jonesboro, Anglia King Herron and husband, Scott ,of Armorel, and Michael Lane and wife, Elizabeth, of Chesterfield, Va.;

Her great-grandchildren, Shelby Herron of Armorel, and Anna Grace Lane and Sarah Elizabeth Lane, both of Chesterfield, Va.
