Willie Lawrence Davis

Willie Lawrence Davis, 85, of Leachville, died Thursday evening, Feb. 2, 2012, at the Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. Born at Corinth, Miss., he was the son of the late Oscar and Lillie McMinn Davis and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a retired cotton ginner for the former Nelson Henry Gin Co. of Leachville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Odell Johnson Davis in 2008, a son, Willie Davis and two brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Davis and wife Bonnie of Leachville and Roger Myrick of Carrolton, Texas; two daughters, Dorothy Spurlock and husband Mike of Temple, Texas, and Sharon Miner and husband Jacky of Paragould, Ark. He also leaves six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several great-great and great-great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. Lee Davis officiating. Services were under the direction of Howard Funeral Service. The family received visitors Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
