Marie C. Smothermon

Mrs. Marie C. Smothermon, 93, of Blytheville, passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Skilcare Nursing Center in Jonesboro after a lengthy illness.

Born in White Oak, Mo., to Roy and Edna Essary Colboth, Marie was a retired sales clerk with Marshal Fields, was active in several community organizations, such as Blytheville Woman's Club and the Dogwood Home Extension Club, and was a member of First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Smothermon.

She leaves her cousin, Ione Gore; several nieces and nephews; and

Good friends Joanie Hess and Shirley Leggett.

A gathering to celebrate the life of Marie will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Cobb Reception Home located at 618 West Main Street (across from the funeral home) with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. There will be no visitation and interment will be private in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Marie's name, to the First United Methodist Church of Blytheville.
