Mrs. Mary Alice McDermott Wagnon, 86, of Blytheville, passed from this life Friday, Dec. 23, 2011 at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Born in Blytheville to Clarence M. and Loyce Edith Dickson McDermott, she was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and retired from Consolidated Supply Company. Mary was a very talented individual who could master whatever she tried to do. She was a great cook, loved to do needle point, and sewing. She would make clothes for her granddaughter and also clothing for her granddaughters' dolls. She also would sew and make vests for the band in which she was an active participant. Mary played a very accomplished ukulele in a band called "The Fun Timers Ukulele Band" led by Bill Hurst which traveled and played enthusiastically for many churches, nursing homes and organizations. She was a devoted Christian who diligently served her God, faith, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack John Wagnon; a son, Jack W. Wagnon; a brother, Malcolm Wagnon; a sister-in-law, Mary Louise Wagnon; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Ruby Wagnon.

Mary Alice leaves her daughter-in-law, Beverly Wagnon of Winona, Minn.;

A granddaughter, Emma Wagnon of Lynchburg, Va.;

One sister, Opal Wayt of Florissant, Mo;

Three nieces, Carla Standley and husband, Steve, of Hazelwood, Mo, Debbie Nelson and husband, Ron, of Florissant, Mo, Margie Louise Whittier of Little Rock;

A nephew, Mike Wayt of Florissant, Mo;

A sister-in-law, Jean Layton and her husband, Buddy, of Pocahontas; and

Special friends Terri Bowling and Virple Walker and a host of church family.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Welch officiating. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery.
