Chester Cooper Huffman

Mr. Chester Cooper Huffman, 79, of the Huffman Community, passed from this life Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Born in Huffman to Murvin and Annie Hicks Huffman, he was retired owner/operator of Huffman Grocery and Gas Station and also retired from Littrell Ford Motor Company, after 25 years as an auto mechanic.

Chester proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and enjoyed riding around in the hills and seeking out yard sales and auctions. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was extremely proud of his family. He had a simplistic approach to life, and that was to love his family and friends and always do the best he could for others.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Metheny Huffman; a brother, Charles Huffman; and sisters Edna Lee Askins, Fern Lucy and Martha Ann Huffman.

He leaves his children, Craig Huffman of Armorel, Teresa England and Ronnie Huffman, both of the Huffman Community;

A brother, Owen Huffman, of Malden, Mo.;

A sister, Sandra Collins of Blytheville;

His grandchildren, Brittany and Chris Hill of Manila, Matthew Huffman of Dell, Nick Huffman of Armorel, Angel Huffman of Armorel, Chad and Erica Huffman of Blytheville, Michael and Codie Huffman of Armorel and Annie Huffman of Huffman; and

His great-grandchildren, Brice Hill, Grace Elizabeth Hill of Manila and Layla Huffman of Dell.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elmwood Cemetery w ith the Rev. Lawrence Gibbons officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cobb Funeral Home. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
