Thomas A. 'Tommy' Whatley

Mr. Thomas A. "Tommy" Whatley, 70, of Luxora, passed from this life Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Cullman, Ala., to Walt and Carrie McClendon Whatley, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially loved to hunt deer. Tommy was the past owner of Whatley Trucking Company and Whatley Auto Sales and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osceola.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Verna Griffin.

He leaves his companion and love of his life, Lucille "Lucy" Hill, of the home, and family, Chris Whatley of Luxora, Stephanie Stevens, Vickie Scott and Billy Hill, all of Osceola, Lisa Latham of Houston, and Ronnie Hill of Bassett;

A sister, Peggy Pulley of Blytheville; and

Twelve grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jay Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Cobb Funeral Home. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
