Helen Ollie Knight Baxley Mondy, 90, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at her residence. She was born Nov. 10, 1920, at Carmi Corner to the late James and Nola Knight. Mrs. Mondy was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Leachville, where she played the organ and piano for many years. She and her husband enjoyed sitting in their front yard and watching and waving to people as they went by on Highway 18.

She was survived by her husband, Charles Mondy; two sons and their wives, Danny Thomas and Peggy Baxley of Enid, Miss., and Bobby Don and Linda Kay Baxley of Victoria, Texas; two sisters, Peggy Pierce of North Little Rock and Naomi Schlucter of Clear Lake, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Nicky Zan Baxley; a daughter, Nola Ann Mondy; seven sisters and two brothers.

A celebration of her life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial was in the Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Jeff Hickey, Danny Baxley Jr., Shannon Baxley, Thomas Baxley, Barrett Baxley, Clint Hickey and Hugh Rose and as honorary pallbearers Dewitt Warren, Gregg Lancaster and Pete Hardy.

Lasting memorials may be sent to the Leachville First Baptist Church.
