Mr. L.C. Smith, 79, of Osceola, died of heart failure Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Osceola Healthcare. Born May 9, 1932, in Luxora, he was a retired truck driver, a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. Thompson Smith and Robbie Chamber Smith; his sister Beatrice Smith Mosley; and his brothers John L. "Nutt" Smith and Eddie "Shane" Smith.

Mr. Smith leaves two daughters, Renay (and Eddie) Little and Yolanda (and Eric) Forest of St. Louis;

Five sons, Andrew (and Karen) Bates, Lonnie C. (and Annette) Smith and Hugh F. Smith of St. Louis, Vonzell (and Phyllis) Robinson of Marion, and Kirk (and Charise) Gregory of South Bend, Ind.;

One sister, Annie Smith of Luxora; and

Fifteen grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola. A graveside funeral service, officiated by Minister Eddie L. McKinney, will follow at 3 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Burdette.
