Lucy 'Deek' Wilbanks Carter

Mrs. Lucy "Deek" Wilbanks Carter, 92, of Manila, entered into rest Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011. Born June 16, 1919, in Chalybeate, Miss., to the late Ajna and Sarah Wilbanks, she was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Carter; four sisters, Ethel Green, Magdalene Thornton, Ella Porterfield and Anner Green; four brothers, Captain Wilbanks, K.C. Wilbanks, William Wilbanks and Aaron Wilbanks; and one daughter, Tammy Trammel.

She leaves four sons, Chucky Wilbanks of Ripley, Miss., Michael Wilbanks of Bay, Tommy Carter of Etowah and K.C. Carter of Dyess;

Seven daughters, Nettie Wilbanks, Brenda Fine, Janet Wilbanks, Kathy May and Carolyn Wilson, all of Etowah, Debbie Lancaster of Manila and Janie Wilbanks of Chalybeate, Miss.;

One brother, Waymon Wilbanks of Walnut, Miss.;

Twenty-six grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at 11 a.m. today at Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Etowah. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with Brother Alvin Wilbanks and Brother Tommy Wilbanks officiating.
