Local residents, including Blytheville City Councilman Monte Hodges ( far right) participated in a "Walk for a Non-Violent Community" in honor of Linda Bedford, who was stabbed to death four years ago. The murder inspired Terika Guy to coordinate and sponsor the "Walk for a Non-Violent Community" down McHaney from Wheeler's Daycare to Williams Park, Saturday afternoon. Noting the rising murder rate in the community, and the numerous shootings in area neighborhoods in recent months, Guy said the Walk is to honor those who have been murdered and to let their loved ones know there is someone who cares. Participants were asked to wear red to represent the victims. The King Riders of Blytheville participated in the Walk.
