Mattie Ellen Logan Caldwell

Mrs. Mattie Ellen Logan Caldwell, 84 of Macon, Miss., and a former resident of this area for most of her life, passed from this life on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Noxubee County Nursing Home in Macon, Miss. Born to Jess and Flora Ester Dewitt Logan in Newport, she attended school in Newport, became an excellent homemaker and was a member of the Monette Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking and being the wife of a farmer she certainly had plenty of experience in all three. Her parents and husband, Ivery Columbus Caldwell, preceded her in death.

She leaves her children, Dale and Patricia Caldwell of Luxora, Virginia and Greg Cotton of Shuqualak, Miss., Joanne and Richard Bird of Marion and Judy and Brian Byrd of Sunflower, Miss.; and

Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Number 8 Cemetery in Cooter, Mo., with the Rev. Don Tims Jr. officiating. The family received friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Home.
