Mrs. Eva Worlund, 89, of Blytheville, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

The widow of Richard Worlund, she was born in Yarbro to Augustus and Clara (Stewart) Jordan and was a longtime area resident.

Mrs. Worlund was the youngest of 14 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She was a woman who loved the Lord and was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Guild. In years past she had been active in the Girl Scouts and the Red Cross. Mrs. Worlund was an avid reader and loved Civil War history. After her retirement as a civil service employee, she went back to college and graduated from Mississippi County Community College with a degree in history. She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother.

She leaves her children, Judy, and her husband, Lowell "Bud" Horner, of Eads, Tenn., Jeannie Worlund of Little Rock and John Worlund and his wife, Sharon, of Osceola;

Three granddaughters, Amy Feehan and her husband, Mike, of Germantown, Tenn., Emily Bizzell and her husband, Patrick, of Middletown, Md., and Elaine Williams and her husband, Kerry, of Gosnell; and

Ten great-grandchildren.

She was the matriarch of this family and encouraged her family to be strong and independent.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dennis FitzPatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
