Loraine Holman Philhours

Mrs. Loraine Holman Philhours, 88, of Jonesboro, widow of Mr. David Philhours and former longtime Manila resident, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born in Delaplaine, she was the daughter of the late John Leslie and Jessie Elinor Vaughn Holman and was a 1940 graduate of Hornersville High School in Hornersville, Mo. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and retired from Manila Public Schools in 1985. Mrs. Philhours was a former longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila and was a current member of the Walnut Street Baptist Church. She had been a Jonesboro resident for the past nine years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Holman, and a grandson, Matt Ellis.

She leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Larry Campbell of St. Louis and Jan and Jim Ellis of Jonesboro;

Two grandsons, Jimmy Ellis and his wife, Kathy, of Frisco, Texas, and Todd Ellis of Jonesboro; and

Two great-grandchildren, Kate Ellis and Matt Ellis, both of Frisco, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Todd Ellis and Jimmy Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Wilkins, Tommy Jones, Larry Campbell, Jim Ellis, Jimmy Ellis and Todd Ellis. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
