Virginia Lee Austin

Virginia Lee Austin went home to be with her Lord on April 14, 2011, at Dardanelle Nursing Center in Dardanelle, after a long illness.

Virginia was born March 29, 1919, in Saltillo, Tenn., the daughter of J.R. and Flossie McCormick. She was united in marriage to Conley Fay Austin in Blytheville in 1940.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Edward Lee Austin, her sisters, Mildred Wicker and Mary Hrabovsky, two brothers, Edward McCormick and Neal McCormick, and one nephew, Tommy Hrabovsky.

Virginia is survived by two sons, Jim Austin and his wife Rebecca of Olathe, Kan., and Dr. Nathan Austin of Russellville;

One sister, Bonnie Lewis, of Springfield, Mo;

Two grandsons, Nathan Austin and Michael Austin;

Four granddaughters, Nicole Austin-Puhr, Keely Austin, Laila James and Jennifer Austin

Five great-grandchildren;

Three great-great-grandchildren; and

Four nieces and three nephews.

Virginia was manager of Blytheville Federal Credit Union for many years, retiring in 1981. After retirement, she kept busy volunteering at her church and as a volunteer tax preparer for IRS.

She accepted the Lord at an early age, and was a longtime member of Gospel Lighthouse Church, where she taught an adult Bible class for many years. She was a gracious and generous friend to everyone and was deeply loved by her family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Gospel Lighthouse Church in Blytheville, with visitation an hour before the funeral.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park under the direction of Cobb Funeral Home.
