Letter to the Editor

"This Person" needs to "man up" on DWI charge

Thursday, April 7, 2011

To the editor:

First, I would like to thank Mr. Chuck Wilder for his letter to the editor titled "Driving while intoxicated is never OK."

"This Person" that he mentioned does know better and should have used better judgment -- blame it on personal issues, work-related stress or just out having a good time -- but blame is just another word for excuse. "This Person" should just man up, plead guilty, pay the fine, do the time and ask for forgiveness. (This is called a second chance, everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance). You know you made a mistake, no one to blame but yourself, so make it right without trying to take someone down with you. Everyone already knows you broke the law so there is no more hiding.

Secondly, I would like to thank the Courier News for reporting the original story unbiased. It is important for every citizen in this county to know what is going on in the community they live in, especially when it comes to how our tax dollars are being used.

Thirdly, I would like to thank the Police Department for doing the best they can to keep our streets safe. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the days of Buford Pusser in my time when stupid technicalities did not matter.

Judge Carney, I hope we hear from you soon to answer some of the concerns Chuck mentioned in his letter.

To every other citizen of this county, our voice needs to be heard and this is one way to do it. Write the editor of the paper -- let's see how many people in this county care enough to respond, not to just this unfortunate situation but to all of the other problems that need a louder voice.
