Wheeler Carson

Mr. Wheeler Carson, 91, of Blytheville, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Tomato to J.W and Mamie Wells Carson, he was a self employed painter for many years, a U.S. Army World War II veteran, served in the European Theater, and was a member of the American Legion Post 24. Mr. Carson loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed walking and in his later years he enjoyed reading his Bible and attending the North 10th Street Baptist Church where he was a member.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Leonard, Finley, A.A., Otto, James and Walter Carson; and three sisters, Lucille Armstrong, Frances Britton and Bonnie Ruth Carson.

He leaves a sister, Naomi Ray of West Memphis;

Two special nieces, Karen Sharp and Kim Riggs, both of Blytheville; and

Numerous nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Max Briley officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be e-mailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
