Lovie Mae Hester

Mrs. Lovie Mae Hester, 77, of Blytheville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Leachville to Vaden and Ivy Jolliff Giles, she was a member of the First Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Eastern Star, past president and member of the Blytheville Women's Club and 1991 homemaker of the year with the University of Arkansas Extension Service. She was on the Board of Directors for the Mississippi County Fair Association, former Chairman of the Ritz Commission, member of the Town and Country Extension Club and a former member and board member of the American Red Cross.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Mack Hester; three brothers, Hugh, Frank and Henry Giles; and a sister, Helen Cook.

She leaves her children, Dr. Joe Dodd Hester of Magnolia and Denise Hester of Osceola;

Two brothers, Chuck Giles of Salem and Max Giles of Iowa;

Two sisters, Norma Bowlin of Cookeville, Tenn., and Betty Neuendorf of Coloma, Mich.;

Four grandchildren, Dr. Christian Hester, Raydodd Hester, Joe Green and Nicholas Green; and

Five great-grandchildren, Joel Mack Green, Ethan Green, Alex Green, Rebekka Green and Isabella Green.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Entombment will be in Dogwood Mausoleum. The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Cobb Funeral Home. Condolences may be e-mailed to cobbfuneralhome@sbcglobal.net
