Mrs. Rosie Mae Stevens, 87, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Blytheville, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, in Baton Rouge. She was born July 22, 1923, in Jackson, Tenn., to Elic and Lina Cole. She was a homemaker, a member of the Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and an avid gardener.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph Stevens; by one sister, Minnie Jackson; and three brothers, E.L. Hicks, James Cole and John Cole.

She leaves ten daughters, Osiabell (and Leonard) Harris and Gladys Magee, both of Milwaukee, Wisc., Anna Johnson of Wauwatosa, Wisc., Bobbie Wright of Rochester, N.Y., Lillie (and Sam) Canada of West Memphis, Mary Stevens Merritt of Atlanta, Dorothy Stevens-Crenshaw, Connie Stevens, Sherry Stevens-Burton and Ellen Stevens-Robertson (Harold), all of Baton Rouge;

One step-daughter, Dorothy Wight of Luxora;

Three sons, Willie (and Lottie) Hopgood and James (and Valerie) Stevens, both of Milwaukee, and Isaac Hopgood Jr. of Chicago;

Two step-sons, Robert Stevens and Bruce Stevens, both of Sacramento, Calif.; and

Thirty-four grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Prince of Peace Church with the Rev. Gilbert Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral Home of Blytheville.
