Mr. Jim Houston Price, 83, son of the late Don L. and Leta Mae (Foster) Price was born April 14, 1927, in Hadley, Mo., and departed this life Feb. 3, 2011, at his residence in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mr. Price had longtime ties to Ellsinore and had only recently returned to live in Poplar Bluff. He had formerly lived in the state of Wyoming, in Phoenix, Ariz., and Gosnell. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for the McFarland Construction Company and owned and operated the Eastwood Store near Van Buren. He had also worked as a logger, farmer and for the Price Lumber Company. He was a member of the Gosnell Baptist Church.

Mr. Price was an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He also liked to help other people. When he lived in Phoenix he was known as the "Neighborhood Grandpa." He like kids and liked to tinker with things, and was a jack of all trades, and master of many.

On May 10, 1952, he was united in marriage to Anna Lee Long in Poplar Bluff.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Willie Joe Price, and two sisters, Mavis Anderson and Macy Wheelis.

He leaves his wife, Anna Lee Price of Poplar Bluff;

Two daughters, Veleta Price of Peoria, Ariz., and Fontella Adams and her husband, Mike of Gosnell;

Two brothers, Charley Price and Donnie Price both of Garwood;

Three grandchildren, Melissa Neel and her husband, Tommy of Gosnell, Angela Blount and her husband, Tim, of Huston, Miss., Kristi Baugus and her husband, Adam, of Gosnell;

Four great-grandchildren Deven, Emily, and Blake Jones of Gosnell, Andrew Adams of Huston, Miss.; and

Many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Visitation was at 6 p.m. Friday in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, Mo. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Crowley and the Rev. Jerry Crowley officiating. Music was provided by the Rev. Curtis Crowley.
