Murrell Gilbert Nance, 93, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at Lakeside Nursing Center.

He was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Leachville to the late John and Martha Nance. Mr. Nance served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II with the 840 Bomb Squad in France and Normandy and was awarded eight Bronze Stars, a Distinguished Unit Badge. He worked for 25 years in the finance office at Memphis Light, Gas and Water, was a member of the retired group, the American Legion and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include twin sisters, Alma Dulaney and Zelma Ashabranner, both of Osceola and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ruby Nance, who died on Jan. 10, and eleven brothers and sisters.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Burial will followe in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. until time of service on Thursday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Bryan Johnston, Sam Johnston, Brian McCoy and Don Johnston.
