Bayless Sharon Carpenter

Bayless Sharon Carpenter, 73, of Manila, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at his home. Born at Manila he was the son of the late Bill and Ethel Green Carpenter and had been a lifelong Manila resident. After retiring from the Crompton Company in Osceola, he was the owner/operator of DJ Hardware in Manila.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Toby Carpenter and Bobby Carpenter, and a sister, Jane Reams.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Chaudion Carpenter of the home; a son, Dewayne Carpenter of Leachville; a daughter, Melody Caban and her husband John of Manila; four brothers, Gene Carpenter of Manila, Vernon Carpenter of Batesville, Larry Carpenter of Prudy, Mo., and Jack Carpenter of Harrison; two sisters, JoAnn Browning of Manila; Bonnie Reams of Bono; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.

Serving as active pallbearers were Ricky Johnson, Chris Jackson, Wayne Sexton, Ronnie Carmichael, Billy Gamble and Brian Thacker.

The family received visitors Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
