James L. Ramer

James L. Ramer, 72, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born Jan. 28, 1938, in Fitzhugh, Ark., to the late Vester and Rubye Hamilton Ramer. Mr. Ramer was a retired science teacher, a county road superintendent, a quality assurance coordinator at St. Bernards Medical Center, and an executive for Boling Security. He was a member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. Mr. Ramer was a retired Captain in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He was a member of the Jonesboro Lion's Club and an avid reader and author.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Anderson Ramer of the home; one son Jim Ramer and his wife Holly of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter, Susanne Quinn and her husband Breese of Oxford, MS.; three grandchildren, Erin Grace Quinn, Aidan Quinn and Audrey Ramer; two sisters, Zardrelle Arnott of Steelville, MO and Gladys O'Steen of Heron, MT.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, July 16, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Ray Broadaway, Larry Rogers and Rich Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery.

Lasting memorials can be made to the Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church in care of Jeanie Bracken.
