Mattie Arvala Wilson

Mattie Arvala Wilson, 88, widow of Hebert Wilson of Leachville, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Bald Knob, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Nora Ann McLendon Taylor and had been a longtime Leachville resident. She was retired from the former Brown Shoe Company in Leachville and a member of the Second Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Steve Baron Wilson, seven brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Goforth and her husband Bill of Niagra Falls, Canada; Lavada Gillen and her husband Bob of Jonesboro, and Joyce Northington and her husband Richard of Pine Bluff; a brother, Walter Curtis Taylor of Marmaduke; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Howard Funeral Chapel at Manila with burial following in the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service.

The family relieved visitors Saturday morning from 11:30 until service time.
