Jimmy Dale Brooks

Jimmy Dale Brooks, 70, of Manila died Monday, July 6, 2009, at his home. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late C.J. and Zephyr May Thomas Brooks and had been a lifelong Manila resident. He was a retired production manager for the former Gurdon Industries in Manila and American General Life Insurance Company. He currently owned and operated Brooks Bail Bonds Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was also a member of the Manila Masonic Lodge 588. He was also a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Manila.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Bowman Brooks of the home; a son, Jimmy L. Brooks of Manila; a daughter, Shelly Henderson of Manila; two brothers, Donnie Brooks and Carl Brooks, both of Manila; a sister, Patsy Pannell of Blytheville; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Miller and Tucker Miller.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors Wednesday evening from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as active pallbearers were Bill Yarbro, Jason Yarbro, James Skinner, Howard Norvell, Kelly Fields and Larry "Pudge" Williams.
