Addie Elizabeth Vankirk

Addie Elizabeth Vankirk, 97, of Lake City, died Friday, June 5, 2009, in Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City. Born in Kalamazoo, Mich., March 10, 1912, she was a lifelong resident of Lake City, a homemaker, and a member of Lake City Church of God.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Vankirk and wife Nadine of Lake City, John Vankirk of Paragould, and Roy Vankirk and wife Pat of Davenport, Iowa; a daughter, Priscilla Sokall of Three Rivers, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Vankirk was preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Vankirk; four sons, Jim, Jerry, Jay, and Bob Vankirk; a daughter, Martha Irwin; two grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Vankirk and Sherry Ann Gray.

A graveside funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Lake City Cemetery in Lake City with Sister Roma Adams officiating. The family received visitors from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 7, at Faith Funeral Service in Manila.

Pallbearers were Gerald Vankirk, John Vankirk, Jerry Vankirk, Charles Vankirk, Brenda Ann Vankirk, and Tyler Gray.

Faith Funeral Service of Manila was in charge of arrangements.
