Randolph Cook

Randolph Cook, 85, of Makanda, Ill., former Caraway resident, died Dec. 15, 2008, in Murphysboro, Ill., after a battle with cancer. Born Nov. 23, 1923, in Caraway, to the late Olen and Sarah Cook, he was a member of the Caraway Baptist Church, and retired General Motors employee in St. Louis, after 32 years of service. He was also a Navy World War II and Korean veteran and was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Shirley Cook; a son, Keith; a daughter, Lisa; a special stepson Samuel and five other stepchildren; three sisters, Mildred Coffman, Morlene Powell of Caraway, Olean Mahan and husband, Nola Lee Mahan of Cave City, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, infant son, first wife, three brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Caraway Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Stevens and Waylon Holt officiating. Navy military honors and burial followed at the Caraway Cemetery.

Faith Funeral Service in Manila was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Leo Jennewein, Noil Mahan, Zackery Storey, John Maglothin, Eddie Whitehead, and Olin Powell.
