David Alan Cook, 30, of Cabot, formerly of Leachville, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, at his home. Born at Temple, Texas, he had been a longtime Leachville resident before moving to Cabot two years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran and received a Purple Heart while serving in Iraq. He had worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Leachville.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Max Edward Cook, and his maternal grandparents, David and Louise Vandivor.

Survivors include his parents, Nolan Cook and his wife, Kisuk, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Flora Thomas and her husband, Johnny, of Leachville; three brothers, Max Cook of Hendersonville, Tenn., Bobby "B.J." Cook of Cabot, and John Cook of Bay.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Russel Rhodes and Michael Willard officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

The family has requested donations be made to the David Cook Memorial Fund at Heritage Bank.

Active pallbearers were Wesley Cornish, Richard Navarro, Chad Decker, D.J. Hill, Marvin Helton and Billy Holt.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Leachville Class of 1997. Special honorary pallbearers were Noah Cook, Seth Cook, Zachary Cook and Nathan Cook.
