Luxora

Flora Berneda Johnston, 92, widow of Rice Johnston, of Luxora, formerly of Manila, died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at her home. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle Mae Cohen Samples and had been a longtime Manila resident before making her home in Osceola and later in Luxora. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers.

Survivors include her son, Bob "Sonny" Johnston of Luxora; two daughters, Rebecca Hill of Pocahontas and Mildred Saracini of Luxora; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Jackie Woods officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were grandsons, Todd Saracini, Timothy Saracini, Trent Saracini, Joel Johnston, Benji Johnston, and great-grandson, Trey Johnston. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons, Tyler Johnston, Trent Morledge and William Morledge.
