John David Bankston, 86, of Black Oak died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born at Harrison on May 27, 1921, to Willie and Dovie Bankston. He was a retired car salesman. He lived in Mississippi for 30 years before moving to Black Oak and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Bankston of Jonesboro; a daughter, Theressa Bankston of Black Oak; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Bankston, in 2004; his parents; and a son, David Bankston.

Funeral services will be private.
