Lake City

John H. Greer, 86, of Lake City, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, where had been a patient for four years and three months.

He was a farmer and owned and operated a grocery store and Mobil station at Winesburg for a number of years. He was born in White County but lived in Jonesboro most of his life, with the last 12 years in Trumann.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Bill Greer; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson, Andy.

He is survived by his wife, Lucile; two sons, John Ed Greer and wife, Betty, and Frank Greer and wife, Carol; two daughters, Mary Alice Swindle, and husband, Bill, and Lorene Bailey; a sister, Belvie Dunlap; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held Monday in Unity Cemetery at Bono with Rev. Edward Pruitt officiating. Emerson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
